Once you enter George Wallace's world, you'll not want to leave it. There's nothing more wonderful than surprise, and this CD is suffused with it. There are highlight poems, indeed: 12th street shuffle, because, this does not stop me; and then the CD ends perfectly with I have discovered a country.
This CD should win some spoken word award that's even bigger than its big, big heart.

i've had the pleasure of reading alongside george wallace at a number of gigs now and part of the pleasure for me is watching other people respond, as i unfailingly do! to his performance. to see audiences light up to the rawness, vulnerability, generousity of spirit, sheer power and delivery style of his poetry and his joy of life. it's a great privilege to witness and participate in such an honest to goodness experience of what it is to be fully alive. he's also a very fine craftsman of his work. on SKY IS his range of voice & tone is enhanced by the moontones understated accompaniment. listen to this cd and you'll (re)discover what soul is - george wallace has it in abundance!
