Album Notes

ANTICIPATION. "Completely captivating from the first few notes. Takes you to a place where you want to stay." Michael Kramer, Classical 96.3FM

ANTICIPATION is the collaborated beauty of Canadian duo Sharlene Wallace, harpist and Susan Piltch, flutist/pianist. With the amazing George Koller on bass their music is original, contemporary, stunning instrumental music. The music on ANTICIPATION is composed by Sharlene, Susan, Rob Piltch, David Piltch/k.d. lang, Anne Lindsay, Loretto Reid, and Francis Kleynjans.

"A joy to listen to. ANTICIPATION is the first release of the combined talents of harpist Sharlene Wallace and flutist/pianist Susan Piltch. With relaxing yet powerful playing and arranging, this all original music is up-tempo contemporary instrumental with a touch of the Celtic. Eminently listenable." Renée Gelpi, Programmer, Galaxie CBC Digital Radio

SHARLENE WALLACE is a Classical and Celtic harpist who flows gracefully from symphony concerts to folk festivals to the intimate setting of the recording studio. She has won two international Celtic harp competitions (the Lyon & Healy International Pop & Jazz Lever Harp Competition in Tucson, Arizona and the Concours d’Improvisation de Rencontres Internationales de Harpe Celtique in Dinan, France), tours extensively across North America giving concerts and master classes, and has recorded five independent CDs (THE RHYME & THE RIVER, JOURNEY OF SHADOWS, BEYOND THE WAVES, ISLAND MOUNTAIN, and most recently ANTICIPATION). Sharlene is on the Faculties of York and Guelph Universities in Canada and the Royal Conservatory of Music’s World Music Centre. She is Principal Harpist with Kingston and Oakville Symphonies. www.sharlenewallace.com

Flutist/pianist SUSAN PILTCH began her music studies at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto with pianist/composer Dr. Samuel Dolin. She later studied recorder with Hugh Orr and flute with her father Bernard Piltch. Susan has recorded two previous CDs with guitarist Daniel La Brash THE MOON AND FLOWERS and NATURE'S PLAY. As a composer Susan has written for flute, flute choir and flute and piano published through Nourse Wind Publications (noursewind@sympatico.ca). Two of these pieces are listed on the Royal Conservatory of Music's flute exam syllabus, Labyrinth written for flute and piano and Little One (lullaby for Kienna) for 2 flutes and piano. Both of these pieces were rearranged for this CD ANTICIPATION. www.susanpiltch.com
