I dedicate this CD to my Mother, my Father and to my brother John, who died far too young and would have really enjoyed this album.
To my Aunts and Uncles.
To my Maternal and Paternal Grandparents.
And to all of my ancestors, as well as to everyone's Ancestors...who fought the fight, kept the Faith, and struggled throughout history, to keep Ireland free.
Obviously, without you, neither me, nor this CD, could have been possible.
But more importantly, because of you, we are who we are: Irish Americans.
Mary Theresa Gaughan and John J. Walsh were both born and raised in County Mayo; Doohoma and Swinford, respectively.
But they never met until immigrating to the United States, both settling in Chicago, Illinois.
I believe it was love at first sight.
It is a well-known story that my father told a friend of his that he was going to marry a girl whom he had only met once, and had not yet asked out for their first date - Mary Theresa Gaughan.
And my Mom told me, so many times, how crazy she was about him.
It was their innate tenderness, sincerity, toughness, sense of humor, their incredible faith, as well as their positive outlook that all things are possible, that were passed on to us.
In addition to the farm products that our ancestors planted and harvested on probably a daily basis, the following were planted also, with Roots so deep that they will last forever: Love, Respect, Character, Pride, Understanding, Sensitivity, Humor, Intelligence, Toughness, Common Sense, Compassion, Persistence, Determination and an Incredible Work Ethic.
What wonderful Genes we have inherited!
Regardless of whether one or both of your parents came from Ireland, one of your grandparents, or a great, great, great, great, great, great-grandparent, we are all Irish Americans.
Hence, the title: "IRISH AMERICAN-EVERY GENERATION"
Thank you dear Ma and Da, for your great Love, Guidance and Direction.
And thank you to all of our Ancestors, who have allowed us to be who we are today.
WE WILL NEVER FORGET YOU!
