Album Notes

Singing, songwriting, musical arrangement and impressions: during his diverse career, John Walton has all too seldom brought these skills together in one project. Working variously as actor, singer, songwriter, voice talent, video producer and drama tutor, John has usually employed his talents in isolation from each other. But now in this album he has brought them together in a unique way, possibly for the first time since his student days in revue at Hull University in the UK.
This is John's only impressions album, in which he takes on the singing styles of Johnny Cash, Bing Crosby and Frank Sinatra in duet, George Formby, Rolf Harris, Peter Skellern, Michael Flanders and Donald Swann, Mel Tormé, Noel Coward and Danny Kaye. Also featured is Gavin Petch, a wannabee gardener who thinks he sounds like Neil Diamond!
John is keen to stress that his pastiches and parodies are kindly intended and arise from a huge admiration for the famous performers depicted. This is a fun album, full of gentle humour, in various easy listening pop styles. It will enrich any family collection.
