Album Notes

Wanaku draws inspiration from indigenous/tribal/aboriginal music. Bio: Wanaku comes from KOM, a Kingdom tribe perched on the grassfield highlands (over 4000ft above sea level) of the Adamawa range in West Africa.

In a region with dozens of tribes, Wanaku was exposed to multi-cultural traditions through dialects, tribal live music, dance and performance arts festivals that unfortunately are not promoted enough to make a difference in the lives of the people today.

Looking beyond the release of "AfrikanGuitarStrophy", Wanaku hopes to set up an ArtistHelp organization that would provide aboriginal creative artists a framework in which to streamline their art projects and make them sustainable in the long term.

Music schools in ethnic/tribal areas sounds like an oxymoron, but in a changing world, it helps to mirror the local culture - using available tools - to give the younger generation a chance to develop an interest in the preservation of the oral and musical traditions of their ancestors.

"The Shining Teeth Boyz'nGirlz Choir of Ibalikumato" would have as their mission: to perform tribal music, song, and dance all over the world and to help preserve these traditions/customs.

Artist's Statement: Drawing on a culturally rich past and passionate vision for the future, Wanaku lives in the moment. "The show must go on".
