Three live concerts combined with a slappin' good bass player to help celebrate our 50 years singing together. Some songs go back 50 years, some are more contemporary. All are that traditional folk style with tight harmonies, gentle guitars and banjo.

Album Notes

50 years and hundreds of concerts together leave many memories. We Wanderers met in college in the fall of 1959, won a talent contest and were on our way. Graduation took away our third member but we continued as a duo. Not too many folk groups can claim 50 continuous years together with the original cast! Many early influences are reflected here - the Kingston Trio, Bud and Travis, Terry Gilkyson and the Easyriders, Pete Seeger and Woody Guthrie. Then we toss in Bryan Bowers, Bill Staines, Sig Paulson, Utah Phillips and others and they all make for a great album. Three live shows recorded by Hal Weiner and Frank Cuta in 2009 provided the material. During those shows, Igor Glenn, multi-instrumentalist from Phoenix, Ariz. and a former New Christy Minstrel, joined us on bass adding his wonderfully creative lines and occasionally taking a slap-bass break, which really kicked up the energy. Micki Perry of Richland, WA. gave us our title because we Wanderers are still alive, still performing live and kickin' out the good music. Enjoy our 50th anniversary album!

The Sound Of Genuine Folk Music!
author: Jim

This is a great album! It combines the sound and energy of two life-long friends, wonderful sounding instruments, a dynamic bass player, and great songs. The Wanderers bring all of us some wonderful and genuine folk music. Listening to this album reminds me of being with good friends, in a living room, singing songs. The music is interactive...very singable. Bill and Carl know how to get an audience to sing along, making the songs accessible to everyone. Their knowledge of the songs, and their expertise on the life and music of Woody Guthrie also come through on this album. I personally think it is important to have and learn about all of these songs and artists, as this is folk music that should be kept alive and going! Enjoy this album, made by my two great friends, Carl Allen and Bill Murlin. If you love folk music as much as I do, you'll enjoy this album! Nice job, Carl and Bill!!
