War Pigeon has dropped “the bomb” on music fans everywhere with their sophomore album; “Glacier.” Diverging slightly from the more Soul/Rock feel of their debut CD, “Glacier” takes its listeners on a fairytale-like musical adventure of Street-Sound, Jazz, and darker Rock, while continuing to pay homage to the creative grooves that helped define their sound. The spirit of “raw musical adventurism” is ever-present on “Glacier”, as the group took the creatively liberating, yet daunting approach of recording, mixing, and engineering the project themselves. The result leaves the listener with an un-distorted image of what its like to spend a week holed up in a cabin in the woods with this band.
War Pigeon came together in Seattle circa 2005 with a purpose: to break down the barriers of traditional music formats and create a stew of musical and life influences void of the sterility found in the majority of today’s music. In the spirit of the great power trios like Cream, The Police and Medeski, Martin, and Wood; War Pigeon emerged on the scene in full force with upbeat and skillful live performances to fans across the northwest.
As 2008 begins, War Pigeon is hot-on-the heels of today’s music scene, smattering a cavalcade of fresh inspiration and timeless music that is destined to earn the attention of music fans worldwide. Before the album even reached the hands of fans and disc jockeys, Seattle’s own Steve Slaton, music director for the popular classic rock station KZOK chose to play the final track on “Glacier” entitled “d.i.a.d.h” live on the air for his listeners on two different installments of his Friday afternoon drive show called “Stump Slaton.”

If variety is the spice of life, then this CD is muy caliente. Finally a CD I can listen to no matter what my mood. Glacier has a little bit of everything and definitely feeds my funktified-jazzerzized side. I give it a politico's "two thumbs way up." Peace.

I love the diversity and the unbelievable musicianship on this cd! It is a treat to listen to all the way through. My favorite songs are Flatin and d.i.a.d.h. , but there is not 1 song that I don't like. Very Different than anything I have heard before. Kudos from Florida!
