Album Notes

Warren Appleby has been writing, recording and performing for over 28 years. Metal fans may remember Warren as a member of the metal band, Blacktask. Blacktask released one album, "Long After Midnight" for Axe Records, in addition to a collection of independently produced demos and EPs back in the 80's. The Collector's Guide to Heavy Metal described Blacktask as "American riff monsters...with touches of Virgin Steel, Slayer, & Exciter".

A fan of '70s & 80's metal, hard rock, & progressive rock, Warren cites Jethro Tull, Deep Purple, Queen, Thin Lizzy, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, & UFO as his main musical influences.

From Detritus issue #339, "this proves you don't have to be signed to a major label with a huge recording budget to create compelling music. There is an unmistakable similarity to some of my favorite NWOBHM bands, a raw quality and energy evident in bands like Legend, Savage and Chateaux. Damned if there aren't some excellent melodic ideas to discover here! Take a listen to "Monsters Among Us" with its heavy and spooky Alice Cooper vibe, the Judas Priest influenced "Retro Rocket", or the up-tempo "Quicksilver" to get an idea of what I'm talking about.

If you love classic metal - then "This Metallic Renaissance" is a must have CD for your collection! Pop and Disco fans - GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE!!!!

I love all of these songs. My favorite is Retro Rocket and the Christmas song is really cool too. These are the type of metal riffs that will stick in you head for a long time!
