You know John as "the guy in the middle" of the stage with popular NC regional act Warren Bodle & Allen. Since playing the solo coffeehouse circuit in the early 70s, John has written haunting, disjointed, and frankly strange tunes about people and issues that resonant with him. Many, like "In The Nighttime" and "Swannanoa" have been crowd-pleasers for the band.

Not long after WBA recorded their long-overdue maiden CD, John bucked the digital trend (and the traditional WBA band sound) to record a variety of musical flavors on tape with a host of Triad musicians, including Rob Bodle and Louis Allen. The result is a oft-pleasing mix of edgy sounds and memorable phrases, evocative of the anger and passion of Cochburn and Crosby, and the disillusionment of Newbury and Lightfoot's drunkards.

"For me, my songs and performances have always been a way of exorcising demons and expressing feelings that aren't usually accessible to me, or acceptable in my 'real jobs.' I feel the most alive when 'hitting the note' with Warren Bodle & Allen, or playing and singing with friends at Ocracoke house parties."

John splits his time between Winston-Salem and Ocracoke, NC. Musician, pilot, forensic psychologist and physician assistant, he's still trying to figure out what to be when he grows up...
