The Wasco Bros first cd," Jackknife" is a soulful mix of original music somewhere along the line of song writers like Roy Orbison, Elvis Costello, Willie Nelson and John Fogerty. The common thread here is that these artist for the most part have always preformed their own songs. People who come to our gigs sometimes ask us what they can expect. We usually say it's either going to be a shuffle or sound like a British guitar band. Yes, that's right, we have a hard time explaining ourselves. So we like to mention great songwriters like the ones up above here. Not only to compare stylistically, but as an example of guys playing their own songs. and that's what Jackknife is, guys playing their own songs. And it sounds like it.

Jacknife
author: Joe Avery
Where the hell have these guys been all my life? Out of the dustbowl region of the once fertile Alt-country landscape come the Wasco Brothers. Killer guitar tones and catchy hooks abound throughout the entire Jacknife CD. These 13 original songs are instantly accessible, yet literary. Imagine that, songs with bitchin' choruses that actually make you think. On their debut album Jacknife, The Wasco Brothers take us on a journey through rural America in the new millenium. A place at once full of promise and quiet desperation. Don't worry folks, you won't hear any cryin' in your beer, "poor me" country whinin' on this record. These songs are ultimately about the good life, or at least memories of it. It's like turning 30 and realizing that the carefree days of your misspent youth are going to be much fewer and farther between from now on. But at least you had those carefree days to hold onto forever.
So help me, If I could write a song, I'd write an entire CD's worth, fill it up with sweet guitar tones and hope like hell that it was as good as Jacknife.
Wasco Brothers? I want these guys to play in my town, and soon.
