Water2Wine began about 3 years ago, in my bright pink living room, as a song writing group. I wanted to write songs that actually challenge the listener to think, songs that are taken straight from the bible, beautiful songs that are hard to listen to nonetheless. I called a couple of friends, and Water2Wine was born.
Because first and foremost we are writers, our music is thought-provoking and wide ranging in style. The title song, "Moonlit Garden" is a haunting reverie in which you can actually hear the souls of the dead. Listen carefully. Other songs, such as "To Be Free" and "Glory of the Lord" are incredibly fun, with wailing guitar solos and some fantastic percussion work. The song we hear the most comments on is "4000 Voices" which was written in response to some churches who began putting up 4200 small white crosses on their lawns to represent the babies who are aborted each day in the United States. It brings people to tears regardless of their political stance on the issue.
I'm Ange Birkhead-Flight, keyboardist and vocalist. Larry Arszman is our bass and lead guitar player. Ron Sanzone plays drums, and Kathleen Hautman and Nicki Brainard sing.

A Compelling Work
by Anthony Lucic Rating: 10
The ability of contemporary music to transmit the truly profound - whether religious or philosophical - is a hit-or-miss proposition. The genre is so frequently used to convey the vapid that it is easy to accept a pleasing melody or a thumping beat with no sense of commitment. Lulled by the impeccable musicianship displayed by Water2Wine in Moonlit Garden, one can easily be taken off guard only to be stunned by the demands on one's mind of the messages contained in the lyrics. Like the effect on a reader of a seemingly simple poem who suddenly comprehends its complex allusions, the realization of Water2Wine's intent strikes quickly and deeply: modern music as ornamentation to draw listeners to unambiguous ideas as old as the Gospels. In the best of the work's pieces, a Christian and pointedly pro-life message emerges from behind crisp instrumentation, elegant melodies, well synchronized vocal harmonies, and pirouetting descants: the strident compassion of "Give Her Fear to Me" will pierce like a laser the soul of anyone who considers himself a follower of Christ; the subtly martial percussion of "4000 Voices" nominates this piece for anthem of the pro-life Church Militant. Haunting and somber, the title track will prompt many a listener to contemplate a topic that yields to dispassion only when its realities are ignored. Water2Wine's members clearly don't want them ignored and have used their art to craft a compelling and engaging Christian musical manifesto.

This CD is the most powerful collection of music I have ever listened to. The artists seem to have an amazing connection to their audience. This CD is so good I keep it in my CD player all of the time. It is a must have for Christian music lovers.
Moving

I'd have to say that this CD is one of the most powerful that I've heard yet. I was moved to tears when I heard the song 4000 Voices. This CD will touch your heart.
