*IMPORTANT NOTE: It is with a sad heart that I share this news. My singing partner, Anne Sucher, (the other half of Water's Edge) passed away on February 27th 2006. We are all saddened and shocked, as this was very unexpected.

The ethereal vocal harmonies of Water's Edge, provided by the duo Michelle Murray and Anne Sucher, are only the first element that will catch and keep your attention. Their honest, down to earth songs are well-constructed, with insightful lyrics, memorable folk-country-blues melodies, and clever,hard-driving pop hooks that will leave you coming back for more.
The CD, which received a 2005 Washington Area Music Association (WAMA) "Wammie" nomination for Best Contemporary Folk Recording, features 10 original songs written by Michelle and Anne--plus a couple of great tunes provided by "Midnite" Bob Gustafson.
Add their tasteful blend of rhythm and lead guitars (provided by the very talented Rick Kanton) into the mix and you'll find yourself playing their debut CD over and over again, in between your road trips to hear them performing live all over the Washington, DC area.
Michelle and Anne have entertained audiences at coffeehouses and festivals throughout the Washington D.C. area, including the Kensington Coffeehouse, the Austin Grill, Berwyn Cafe, New Deal Cafe, Caribou Coffee, College Perk Coffeehouse, Mayorga Coffee Factory, Jammin'Java, the Artomatic Arts Festival in Washington D.C. and the Greenbelt/New Deal Cafe's Festival of the Song.
In addition, their CD has received airplay on D.C. area FM radio stations, including WRNR-FM (where they performed live on Damien Einstein's show) and WETA-FM.
The CD produced by guitarist Rick Kanton, features 10 original songs written by Michelle and Anne, and a couple of great tunes ("Shopping List" and "East Texas") provided by "Midnite" Bob Gustafson.
More about Michelle:
Singer/Songwriter Michelle Murray has been playing guitar and composing songs for over 20 years. An accomplished lyricist, her songs combine the sounds of folk, country, and a touch of the blues. Throughout her years of performing, Michelle has opened shows for popular folk artists such as John Gorka and David Massengill.
Originally from NJ, Michelle has also performed at many clubs and coffeehouses in the NY/NJ Metropolitan area. In addition to performing, Michelle serves on the board of the Songwriters' Association of Washington. In that capacity, she hosts a Songwriter's Association of Washington open mike and songwriter's showcase.
More about Anne:
Anne Sucher, a native of Greenbelt, MD, has been singing since the age of five. She began writing songs at the ripe age of six, with long hiatuses between bouts of creative expression where she was content to sing "other people's songs." Anne recently produced a mini-CD and plays regularly with her musical friends "The Knaves," who consist variously of Michelle Murray, Rick Kanton, and Midnite Bob. In addition to guitar, Anne was trained in classical piano.
Water's Edge Reviews:
"Beautiful, fantastic! You have wonderful harmonies together."
Damien Einstein, Host of Damien's Diner, WRNR 103.1 FM, Annapolis, MD
"The musical tandem of Michelle Murray and Anne Sucher frequently switch harmonies, creating a genuine quality for every song."
Denny Carter, Prince Georges County Gazette
"Their honest, down to earth songs are well-constructed, with insightful lyrics, memorable folk-country-blues melodies, and clever, hard-driving pop hooks that will leave you coming back for more."
Don Bridges, President, Songwriter's Association of Washington
"Michelle's voice has the light brassiness of a trumpet, and Anne Sucher's innovative harmonies are a flute accompanying it, and their notes dovetail like twin sisters singing. Their harmonies are not cliched or predictable. Comparison to the tight Indigo Girls is inevitable, but Michelle and Anne are more like The Everly Sisters would be if Don and Phil were female."
Ron Goad, Vice President, Focus Music
