Album Notes

Every so often, an album comes along whose tracks deserve the title "pop ditties." That ambiguous term fits WP's third recording perfectly. Falling somewhere between Liz Phair, R.E.M. & Cowboy Junkies, Watsonville Patio balances its breezy and dreamy sound with melancholy lyrics of loves lost and hopes dashed. Singer Janice Grube's voice commands attention with its familiar intimacy. Listening to Population 02 is like spending 50 minutes with an old friend whom you'd like to hear from again sooner rather than later.
