Album Notes

You're somewhere off the far end,
off the edge of the map,
someplace exotic.

You don't know the language
or recognize the terrain
but are enthralled by it anyway.

.WAV founded by Vessela Stoyanova and Troy Kidwell, play upbeat international rock and jazzy arrangements of Balkan folk songs.

"As the world gets smaller music is getting a much more global audience and will reflect that in a more international sound." proclaims Vessela.

THIS ISN'T ONE OF THOSE WORLD MUSIC BANDS WITH WOODEN FLUTES AND SYNTHS...THIS BURNS!

wicked ethno-groove drumming, metal guitar and gypsy violin
pulling you out of your seat or into your headphones, chilling you out and giving you a salsa slap on the ass!

"There were people in Yugoslavia and Uruguay listening to Guns-N-Roses in high school just like I was." Troy says
"now you get musicians who are bringing that kind of energy to their traditional music."

It's world/rock fusion music coming at us from the other direction.

.WAV ROCKS THE CASBAH,
THE MEHANA AND
THE HOUSE!

wav breaks barriers, surprises and delights
author: Jerusha
this wonderful album is full of musical surprises and delights. The exquisite vocals and instrumentals draw from ancient Balkan tradition, but instead of cymbalon, the marimba provides a mellow twist. The arrangements are tight and elegant, a blend of elegance and humor--and this album rocks! Surf's up. Highly recommended.
