The Journey-St. Louis (www.journeyon.net) is proud to present Responding, the first-ever studio release from a Journey worship band. Waving Not Drowning offers their talents on this debut recording, which features 8 Journey favorites, including five original songs or hymn arrangements available exclusively at The Journey.
The songs represent the collective skills and influences of WND. Evident are hints of the Gospel and roots-rock influences of guitarist and vocalist Joel Lindsey, the metal-tinged work of guitarist and keyboardist Andy Richmond, and the blues and indie-rock underpinnings of bassist Graham Farra and drummer Rich Budwell. Adding layers of sonic depth and emotional reenforcement, Katie Noland's vocals also shine on this recording.
According to Lindsey, "Responding is offered as a reminder that we all worship someone or something all the time, whether we acknowledge it or not. The Bible is clear. We are either worshiping God or someone or something else, often ourselves. That means that everything we do, from the ways we eat, sleep, think, drink, work and play, comprises our worship." The key to God-honoring worship, Lindsey says, lies in the motivations that drive our actions and thoughts.
"When we recognize how big and good God is, and simultaneously admit how dark our own thoughts and actions can be, we begin to glimpse the big picture. Jesus lived the life we should've lived and died the death we should've died, and everything we do should be a response to that truth."
The Journey-St. Louis is a gospel-centered missional church that exists to “Love God, connect people and transform the world.” A multi-site church, The Journey currently operates 3 campuses across the St. Louis area and will be adding a fourth campus in Spring ’08. The Journey also seeks to restore the relationship between the church and artists and operates The Luminary Center for the Arts as a way to return the Christian community to its roots as lovers of God’s pervasive creativity and creators of art for his glory.
