Album Notes

The long awaited release from award winning film composer Wayne Hoefle is here. Hoefle, known throughout the film and music communities for his gripping work in the large orchestral setting, has scaled down for a very intimate approach on this recording. Written for a small ensemble of strings, piano, and english horn "Ghost Notes" is a melodic journey through a beautiful world of hope and sorrow.

I have only had this CD a very short time, but play it almost every evening. Being a new age music listener for two decades now, I feel Wayne Hoefle ranks up there with the best of them. Only wish he had more on this CD, as it truly is a masterpiece. A great CD for anytime of day, and will leave you feeling peaceful and relaxed.

Some of the best New Age on the market!

This was the first of Wayne's albums. There are 5 "songs" on the disc. I say it this way because the parts were actually written as a whole, one long piece of music which was subsequently divided into 5 segments. Why? I'm just guessing here, but I think it probably had something to do with trying to make the album more marketable. I mean, a lot of folks would look at a cd with just one "song" on it and pass it by for something with "more music." The secret though people, is in the listening. This music would have been perfect as a sonata or the first movement of a concerto if we were talking classical music. Even with the segmenting of the music, it loses nothing because, the transitions between tracks are so short and smooth that you have to watch the stereo's track counter to know where the changes occur. This music is of the nature of something I can only call "timeless"! Other music in the category of this cd would be things like Beethoven's "Moonlight Sonata" or Debussy's "Claire de Lune". Music that is so beautiful it will live and be enjoyed forever. I have mentioned many times that I consider David Arkenstone to be the best New Age composer around; that he is the closest one can get to Mozart writing music with today's technologies. Well, Wayne Hoefle is doing music that would make Mozart envious. Was there anything I didn't like about the album? Yes, it left me wanting more!!

Loved the cover, loved the music - I listen to this one again and again; however, I have to put it on repeat because it is much too short. A very unusual repast.
