Album Notes

Wayne’s new album for kids is a 24-song mini-opera that follows a little kid’s day from waking up in the morning to falling asleep at night. Sing Out magazine calls Wayne a “master of kids’ music.” His last CD Don’t Forget the Donut received national airplay and the Parents’ Choice Award. A Day in the Life is Wayne’s sixth release for children.
Many of the songs on the album have already become instant concert favorites at Wayne’s solo and full-band Boston area shows like the Beatle-esque After My Bath, the Woody Guthrie style Belly Button, and the Johnny Cash/Willie Nelson influenced Time To Go. The album had its beginnings vacationing on an island with no electricity. Wayne’s son Noah suggested “an album about a day in the life of a little kid.” Wayne immediately did a stream- of-consciousness recording into a tiny mp3 player with a built in microphone. These recordings served as rough drafts for what became the final CD two years later.
In addition to a busy concert schedule, Wayne visits classrooms at over a dozen schools on a weekly basis where is fortunate to be able to continually fine-tune his songs and arrangements until they really connect with the children. All 24 songs are Potash originals. Wayne, who has engineered and produced recordings for dozens of artists in the Boston area, engineered and produced A Day in the Life too. Wayne will be performing at Boston Harborfest and the Newport Folk Festival next summer.
