Noted guitar educator, Wayne Riker, has produced his debut CD, "Fretfull", a delightful blend of many musical influences sprinkled throughout twelve instrumental tracks of his own compositions on acoustic guitar. The CD takes you on a diverse journey of musical moods with elements of country blues, jazz, Celtic, flamenco, funk, rhythm and blues, and pop, using four different guitars and seven different tunings. After forty years of performing in almost every group oriented genre, Wayne begins this new solo guitar journey. He is known worldwide for his numerous instructional books with Alfred Publishing, in addition to his popular instructional columns over the years in Guitar Player, Acoustic Guitar and Acoustic Musician magazines.

Music from the Master!

This man taught me how to really play guitar when I thought I already knew. His knowledge of music is encyclopedic, there is nothing he can't play. You can put the most complex recorded piece of guitar (or anything else for that matter) in front of him and he'll tab it out for you in minutes - open tunings? For mere mortals an open tuning can make figuring out a song almost impossible. Not Mr. Riker. Anyway, that's the background. The music on this CD is just what I'd expect from him - soulful, restrained, complex only when it needs to be. Wayne is the Master.

Fretfull

This is album is a must for the music lover. Just when you think you have determined the genre of a track, Riker teases you with a dynamic blues or jazz/flamenco/funk riff. The music is full of pleasant surprises and virtuoso guitar playing. Every time I listed to the cd I am amazed at his talent. I thought about burning my guitar after I heard it the first time. I still can not figure out all the alternative tunings he uses. Riker is a genuine guitar wizard.
