Album Notes

William Boyd Chisum

Boyd was born in West Texas. Due to being premature, he underwent a blood transfusion which was wrongly "cross-matched" causing a severe circulatory problem in both legs. In critical condition, he was transferred to another hospital in Lubbock, Texas. After several days he was released with no anticipation of further problems.

At about eight months old he began to experience pain in both hips when trying to stand. It was discovered that as a result of the incorrect blood transfusion, both of his hip sockets had not formed properly, leaving no place for the hip bones to connect.

His parents were advised that Boyd would need multiple surgeries if he was ever going to be able to walk. He was sent to Scottish Rite Hospital for Children in Dallas, where he under went his first surgery at nine months of age.

For sixteen years Scottish Rite Hospital was like home for Boyd. He would undergo complex, complicated, surgical procedures. He has undergone a lifetime of corrective procedures including six total hip replacements.

Boyd began playing the guitar at age eight. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior at age 10. From time to time Boyd left the hospital to sing in churches and schools. He was also allowed to leave the hospital to participate in interscholastic competitions in Texas. He eventually received a vocal scholarship to Hardin Simmons University in Abilene, Texas.

In the late 1970's, Boyd became a member of a popular contemporary Christian music group called Paradise, performing with such famous artists as Russ Taff and the Imperials , The Archers , Reba Rambo, Jerry Clower and a young new artist, Amy Grant. In the 1990's, he formed a Southern Gospel quartet, The King's Four, and performed with notables such as Kirk Tally and David Patillo.

In 2006 Boyd released a new album on Lamon Records entitled "Chasing the Wind". This project is a compilation of original songs that expresses what God can do in a life and tells of a strength that can only be found in our savior, Jesus Christ. In 2002 he released a solo album, "The Heart Of A Man."

In June of 2006, Morgan James Publishing in New York City released Boyd's amazing life story in a book intitled "Chasing the Wind".

Boyd often says, "What God allowed to be taken away from me, manifested in the form of physical limitations, He has replaced a hundred-fold through the gifts and guidance of the Holy Spirit." Boyd wants to share the blessings and gifts God has given him with anyone and everyone who will listen.

Your CD coupled with reading your book of the same title have moved me to deeper and deeper, more profound levels of spiritual growth. I have played the CD so much it's nearly ready for a retread. But, each time the words and their concepts seep deeper and deeper into my heart to both encourage and challenge me!

This CD has touched my heart. It has brought back feeling where I thought I had lost all hope of ever feeling "touched" again. It is my primary source of inspiration. It has truly helped me go on and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Such a remarkable collection of original, heartfelt songs! I strum along with it at home (and safely listen in the car). SO glad to own it. Thank you, Boyd!
