Album Notes

This is an inordinately difficult CD to categorize. The marketing gurus tell me I should have some quick, snappy comeback for each person who asks me what kind of music I write/perform - not going to happen. There are 15 unique songs on this CD. They represent many different aspects of my persona and reality.

While I cannot come up with a single, clever descriptive phrase for the entire CD, I have whipped-up a single (and hopefully clever) descriptive phrase for each of the tracks:

1.Words Won't Work - Imagine Elvis Costello & Jimmy Page wrote a song together
2.Sincerely - A rock/rumba with REM overtones
3.Gideon - Lyrically powerful acoustic roots
4.Blue Hole - Rock-a-billy / punk; everyone's swimming hole
5.Stumble - 6/8 Harder Rock; all Wesley Bob
6.Call On You - Texas Music, maybe a little harder
7.Precious - 3/4 Acoustic Rock; all Wesley Bob
8.Any Man - The Wallflowers minus Jacob Dylan in a Hard Waltz
9.Slipped - Five guitar tracks, sparse drums, psychedelic
10.Sinking - Southern Death Tune genre, ala Violent Femmes
11.Tellin' All the World - Pure Blues with a twist of Kravitz
12.The Truth - Acoustic Introspection
13.Intentions - Hendrix vamp but the closest to pop I'll ever get
14.Down - Soft to hard, psychedelic; all Wesley Bob
15.Ain't Good Enough - Up tempo blues but out of the box

Having played bass on most and guitar on some of this record (the lead on Blue Hole is me; bass on Sincerely is Wes), I think the record is a good indie release. It should be treated like The Smith's "Louder Than Bombs" compilation rather than an "album". Under those circumstances, it rocks. Listen to "Sinking" first...you'll see what I mean.

Marvelous lyrics. Some repetition noted with rivers and shadows. Talented guitar/drum/bass playing with good rifts. Vocals could be more powerful, female backups would contribute a great deal as well. Great startup CD

Excellent variety. Something for every mood. Sounds even better LIVE! Very interesting openings to the songs - not typical count off. LOVE IT!

These are soul piercing lyrics with grooving melodies that make you reminisce about the good ole days. After hearing the first few songs I was craving shiner bock and flip flops. This is real Texas blues /rock !!
