1996: gerlinda grimes (vocals/guitar) meets chris mathewson (bass) while working in a bookstore. one day, gerlinda mentions to chris that she has written some songs. she plays a few songs for chris. he decides to introduce her to his friend, drummer jeff frazier. soon after, weaklazyliar is born.
1997: weaklazyliar begins recording. with only the scratch tracks finished, the studio has to close down because a complaining neighbor tips off the zoning board that a studio was located in a residential neighborhood. the band mixes their scratch tracks and releases an 8 song EP (entitled DEMO). weaklazyliar begins playing in Atlanta clubs.
1998: weaklazyliar begins writing songs for their next CD. jeff decides to quit the band in order to spend more time with his family. just as chris and gerlinda begin to feel the end of weaklazyliar is near, they meet joe knoll, a drummer who has just moved to Atlanta from California. joe listens to DEMO. he loves it and agrees to become a weaklazyliar.
1999: weaklazyliar records their next CD with jeep hook (guitarist for 80's artists Talk Talk, Basia and Millions Like Us). the CD (entitled YESTERDAY NIGHT) is a critical and college radio success (and is now in its second pressing). weaklazyliar begins performing at clubs in Alabama, South Carolina, North Carolina and Tennessee.
2000: weaklazyliar decides to add keyboards to their live show. chris and joe ask their friend, ryan taylor, to play. he agrees. because of weaklazyliar's success on the website mp3.com, they are asked to play the Atlanta stop on two tours sponsored by mp3.com - Club mp3.com and Women of mp3.com. weaklazyliar's Atlanta fan base continues to grow and they are voted Favorite Acoustic Band (Reader's Choice) in Atlanta's Creative Loafing newspaper. several songs from YESTERDAY NIGHT are featured on the WB television series Felicity and on two episodes of the NBC saturday morning series Just Deal.
2001: XM satellite radio adds YESTERDAY NIGHT to rotation. weaklazyliar is invited to showcase @ 2001 CMJ MUSIC MARATHON in New York. for the second year in a row, they are voted Favorite Acoustic Band (Reader's Choice) in Creative Loafing. two weaklazyliar songs are featured on the CBS series The Education of Max Bickford. weaklazyliar begins work on their third CD (entitled THE NOVEMBER DIARIES). they record at zero return with rob del bueno (Man or Astro-man).
2002: THE NOVEMBER DIARIES is released. the album debuts at #17 on the CMJ Top 200 Adds chart and a song from the CD is featured on the series finale of Felicity! WB includes a weaklazyliar link on the Felicity website. as a result, the first pressing of the CD sells out in less than 2 weeks. joe decides to move back to california. weaklazyliar is without a drummer again.
2003: aware of weaklazyliar's drummer problem, another Atlanta band emails the band and recommends travis denton. weaklazyliar calls travis. travis is cool. he begins playing with the band. weaklazyliar is selected to showcase at the 2003 Atlantis Music Conference.
2004: travis leaves. original drummer, jeff, returns! weaklazyliar returns to the studio to begin recording their next CD.
2005: the new CD SONGS FOR ANY OCCASION is released!
