Album Notes

Steve Weingart, from Dayton, Ohio began his musical career playing piano at age three. In his formative years of classical study, Steve was honored with numerous awards.

As Steve explored various types of music, he was strongly influenced by the music of jazz masters Josef Zawinul, McCoy Tyner, Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, and Red Garland. This began the evolution of the jazz musician he is today.

In 1984 Steve was awarded a full scholarship at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music to further his study of jazz. It was during this period that Steve's writing and playing abilities were brought to the forefront. His mastery of the keyboard and programming expertise quickly thrust him into the thick of the Cincinnati music scene.

In 1994 Steve decided on a change of scenery and moved to Los Angeles CA, where he has found his way with many new musical experiences. Steve is now based in Burbank, California and along with his busy local playing schedule, he is touring worldwide with the Dave Weckl Band supporting the Band's latest recordings "Transistion" and "Perpetual Motion".

Some artists Steve has appeared with:
Chaka Khan - Frank Gambale - Scott Henderson - Eric Marienthal - Kenny Rankin - Jimmy Earl - Ernie Watts - Cecelia Noel and the Wild Clams - Alain Caron - Michael Ruff -StraightJacket (Marco Mendoza-Bass, Joey Heredia-Drums) Warren Hill - Marilyn Scott -

Steve sounded great with Dave Weckl and recorded a wonderful debut CD here. I love the sounds he gets out of his synths. + the vintage Rhodes. He reminds me of the best of the late great Joe Zawinul, Chick and Herbie. Steve is his own man though, great writer, player and programmer. Beautiful Funk and Ballads. I love his music and highly recommend it.

Do you remember Dave Weckl Band Keyboarder(also co-writer in some tracks)? Do you remember El Grupo (Steve Lukather) Keyboarder? I'm always talking about Steve Weingart: this wonderful musician and Person (I've got the lucky to know him personally). Here you can hear his intimate cd to confirm the greatness of this musician. A very good result with also some relaxing themes and an interesting track with west and oriental music mixed. One world: to buy!!!

This CD is great. I think Steve is really good at composing meaningfull tunes, that is not just showoff. There are some really smoking fusion tunes(ex.back seat driver) and more laid back songs(ex. not without you), and they all complement each other nicely. One of my favorite disc's, even better than recent Weckl band(where Steve is a member).
