Straight ahead, catchy, dark, introspective overtones coupled with uplifting choruses; driving in your car kind of rock. not as dark as toad the wet sprocket; not as soft-rock as james taylor; not as power-pop as marvelous 3.

Album Notes

Martin Blandford of News4U Magazine gives it a 4 out of 5 rating. "...the band has what it takes and the desire/devotion". "Bravo on their debut effort."

wellhello is a rock solid 5 piece band whose sincerity, hard work, and musicianship have fans coming back again and again. Begun in 1998, the formula of Lindsey Williams on male lead vocals/guitar and Brian Mullins on drums has proven magical. Later, the additions of Scott Winzinger on guitar/mandolin/vocals, Jolie McCraw DeVries on violin/vocals/keys, and Greg Smitha on bass have created a group of best friends who play to capacity crowds nearly every weekend. wellhello songs like "back on me," "my everything," and "another detour" keep crowds singing, dancing and cheering at every show.

Based in the Southern Indiana region, wellhello members have the talent, perseverance and desire to pursue lifelong careers in music. And they are off to a great start. The first single, "addiction," from their debut album has reached #1 on WSTO 96.1 FM in Evansville, Indiana and is in regular rotation (40 spins per week!) to an audience of over 200,000. Other stations in the area have picked up on the buzz. WLKL (The Max 89.9FM)in Mattoon, Illinois; WGBF (The River City Rocker 103.1FM) in Evansville, Indiana; WMGI (The Mix FM 100.7)in Terre Haute, Indiana to name a few. The band's sincerity, honesty, humility, and gratitude only serve to further the appeal of their music, performances, and personalities. Working closely together on their music an average of 3 nights a week, wellhello continues to achieve its goals and set new ones.

The music can best be described as observations on life, love, and self-discovery embodied by fresh, clean male lead vocals and driving modern rock with an aura of folk-rock. Female backing vocals and violin delicately flavor such songs as the title track, "another detour" and "my everything". Each of the seven tracks on "another detour" is as catchy, strong, and serious as the next. Sometimes angry and dark, and sometimes hopeful and bright. Each person can find something that relates to him or herself, or perhaps something that invokes singing in the shower, or likely something that just plain sounds good.

Fans have made such comparisons as James Taylor, Toad the Wet Sprocket, Train and Vertical Horizon.

as good as i remember it being

i've heard a lot of these songs before, as I saw the band out at the bars in Evansville a couple times and all i can say is this: somethings become way cooler when you look back on them, but these songs aren't like that. 'addiction's chorus is every bit as infectious as i remember. 'south carolina' gives me goosebumps its so good. i'd recommend this cd to anybody on anyday of the week.
