Album Notes

Late Summer Purple has a new line up for this new album. Yes, Wendy Ellison Mullen is still doing the singing and writing most of the tunes and enthralling listeners with her powerful, lush lines. Now she is joined by Don Mills on lead guitar. Don plays with distinction; whether blues or rock, Don's leads command attention. The rhythm section is comprised of Byron Pimms on bass and Merwin Kato on drums.

"E. . .at the 5th" is a more thoroughly blues album than Late Summer Purple's earlier ventures. Only two of the songs ("Watch Dog" and "Balance") are more rock than blues.

And yes, "(Ronnie) Play For Me" is a tribute to Wendy's favorite guitarist, Ronnie Wood. That's Wendy playing the electric guitar there, in case you couldn't tell!

Tim Sherman, Washington Blues Society's award winning guitarist, takes a turn on Robert Johnson's "Hell Hound Blues," lending a haunting quality to Wendy's vocals. An original, mermerizing version.
