Wendy Jans' album "Simple As a Song" marks the stylistic break-through of an independently-produced artist reminiscent of Colbie Caillat and Norah Jones, yet with a voice that cannot be readily defined. Jans' smooth, dusty tone sets her apart in a sea of redundant voices, emoting a simplicity that feels both refreshing and new. Self-launched and independently promoted, Jans wrote and co-produced "Simple as a Song" with up-and-coming Nashville producer Chad Carlson, who engineered albums by Taylor Swift, Trisha Yearwood and Chris Isaak. "Simple as a Song" features 11 standout songs with radio-ready soul- pop melodies encompassing the whimsical, lighthearted mood to darker, jazz-infused temperaments. If you're looking for something new and different, this is the album for you.

"Here is a voice that doesn't sound like everyone else. But she sure sings well... She should have a long career."

powerful, dynamic, original

Such a beautiful album. The songwriting is original and dynamic, rich and layered, textured. No detail is overlooked in the composition or recording. The performance is powerful: clearly talented musicians, and one incredible voice. The style is distinctive: subtle hints of influence (India.Arie, Colbie Caillet, Norah Jones, Stevie Wonder...come to mind), but the overall sound is absolutely original. So impressed by this artist and eager to hear more.

A CD that I can listen to over and over and love that the tunes get stuck in my head. Not many artists I can say that about! She has a very distinctive style and voice and her songwriting is as beautifully profound as her vocal instrument is capitaving. Just lovely. Really.

Fantastic mix of jazz with a country flavor on some of the tracks. Can't stop listening to this album.
