Album Notes

EP (O)
EP #2

"(O), the second of three EPs promised from Denver’s Wentworth Kersey, finds the duo upping the atmospheric ante while maintaining a strong songwriting perspective. Passing comparisons toYankee Hotel Foxtrot-era Wilco remain apt, but the tracks here feel even more ethereal and ghostly than its predecessor. The slow burn of the majestic “Teton Mountains” unfolds like a fractured wilderness expanse before melting into the plaintive strummer “Brief Symphony”. “Empty Mall/Dead Mall” into “Worms” follows a similar stylistic arc with the results never feeling forced or rushed. One day in the future, those outside the city limits of Denver will wake up to Wentworth Kersey. Armed with a fully formed aesthetic and an ear for mixing texture and melody in gorgeous proportions, the duo will be well prepared to meet the increased scrutiny. It’s only a matter of time. 8 OUT OF 10!"
--POP matters

"On WK’s second self-titled EP, Joe Sampson and Jeffrey Wentworth Stevens seamlessly meld haunting folk songs to minimal yet soaring samples and synthesizers. The result is a lush, lonesome vibe that sneaks up and bites you on the ass with its epic-ness."
--THE ONION (av section)

"This knocked me for six. Some stunning, beautiful country music..."
"The songs are simply crafted but swathed in a rich psychey soundscape. Far from swamping the country goodness, the extra layers add a whole new dimension to the songs, making them extraordinary. It’s very cleverly done - velvety and honest at the same time. Fans of Beachwood Sparks and Mystic Chords of Memory will fall in love with this."
--ART ROCKER

"Their sublime chemistry, however, is revelatory, sounding little like either Sampson's various folk-rock projects or Stevens' electro-dappled George&Caplin. On the second in a series of three EPs, the duo oozes a gentle sophistication and patient melodicism that sets it apart."
