Album Notes

Richie Wermerling came to the forefront of the British music scene as lead singer, song writer and sometime producer of the successful 90s band Let Loose, and more recently as songwriter, producer, singer and keyboardist for the band Bottlefly Richie is also an accomplished and respected writer and producer.

Signed to Warner Chappell from 1990 -2004 Richie wrote and performed the massive summer hit Crazy For You which ran up impressive sales of 600,000. Let Loose had formed following an advert in Melody Maker and the line up consisted of Richie, Lee Murray and Rob Jeffrey. The first three singles notched up sales of nearly a million.

Let Loose built up a strong fan following with their exciting live performances and guitar pop rock sound, described as "rocky, easy listening and indie style" in a more recent review of their Best Of Album. Influenced by the work of such bands as Duran Duran, and playing their own instruments and penning their own numbers with style and enthusiasm Let Loose were a step away from the then plethora of boy bands.

During this period Richie also worked with I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here presenters Ant and Dec in their earlier incarnation as pop duo PJ and Duncan on tracks including their first number Tonight Im Free, Girlfriend and the Christmas single Perfect which was both written and co produced by Richie.

After Let Loose Richie went on to form Bottlefy, subsequently signed to Terry Lippmann as the keynote band in his newly formed TLC recording company and Universal New York and whisked off to the States. A tour followed and Bottlefly’s self titled album was released by Universal Music in a flurry of excitement to welcoming reviews.

"Filtering classic British pop songwriting through an eclectic alternative-rock sensibility, the London quintet Bottlefly was founded in 1997 by vocalist Mark Arnell and keyboardist Richie Wermerling..... Bottlefly's eponymous self-titled debut album was released in 2000, finding the band augmenting their sound with touches of ska, psychedelia, R&B, and electronic dance music." ~ Steve Huey, All Music Guide

"Bottlefly's debut album is truly a melting pot that combines a lifetime of experiences unveiling its own carnival like universal canvas of "pet sounds", sinister clowns, drug dealers, silver clad dancing girls and even a lyrical nod to Academy Award winner Michael Caine"

"It sounds like Bottlefly has captured pop lightning in a jar"

During his years with Bottlefly many of the songs co written and produced by Richie were featured in major film and tv programmes. Credits include the theme tune to the Fox network Claymation Series Gary and Mike, Anywhere But Home, Sunshine in the Adam Sandler film Little Nicky, Got 2 B Luv a single release for Bottlefly was picked up by several major movies including One Night at McCools with Michael Douglas and Liv Tyler

Richie returned to the UK to concentrate on writing and producing. An all round writer able to excel across genres recent credits include working with artistes as diverse as Kate Amounier and Sony Japanese artiste Yuki. Tracks with Kate Amounier (signed to Sanctuary Records, and toured with James Blunt) include the 2 singles "Much like Yesterday" which "technically never puts a thing wrong as shiny guitars shimmer" and "Beautiful Girl". Richie continues to excel at writing and producing exciting pop tunes Stamford Amp released Anything For You as a single which featured in the BBC series starring Pauline Quirke "Down to Earth" and it is also on release by Australian Pop Idol runner up Lee Harding. In Japan Sweet 17 was on the 2005 No 1 album by Yuki .Noise Next Door recorded I Want You Back a catchy guitar number in the style of McFly whilst the irrepressible Peter Brame from Fame Academy made Smash and Grab co written with Cliff Jones and Jez Cliff (Gay Dad) his own. Long Time Coming has been recorded by Hartmut Engler signed to EMI Germany. I Know was recorded by BBMak .Last Time is performed by Penny Foster.As well as recording Heaven Is with Wildflower Jody Saron also co wrote the forthcoming release for triniti, rose on water.

With Jay Smith Richie co wrote and co produced four of the tracks on the forthcoming album: Coincidence, Angel 4 Tea, Dead Gorgeous and Monster Under The Bed.THIS GIRL IS GOING TO BE BIG...BUY ON I TUNES..UNDER ;JAY;

Richie has had many productive writing partnerships over the year, two of the most notable have been with Jez Ashurst of Farrah, and Caroline Lofts and over the last years they have written many good songs including You and Me Against The World,.GO GO.I STILL BELIEVE.SHED MY SKIN. Richie also co.wrote the B Side to the single Tongue Tied by farrah .called Starman currently available on I Tunes .

Richie has recently released his first solo album, Lost, a collection of previously unheard demos as an independent release on CD Baby. Currently Richie is putting a band together in order to do what he does best and take the album out to the public in live performances.

REVIEWS

As powerful and emotional as ever:

I have immensely enjoyed the release of 'Lost' from the former Let Loose front man.The first thing that made my ears open was Richie's vocal,which remains as powerful,yet delicately emotional as it ever has done.for me personally,the record had a strangely haunting feel to it,which I think may have had a little to do with the same kind of mixed emotions that are apparent on the Let Loose albums 'Roller coaster' and of course the debut 'Let Loose' album. I will not say which tracks I favoured,as that is a matter of personal tastes,but what I will say is that as the album progressed,I realised I was listening to a genuine,and convincing batch of top notch songwriting,both lyrically and musically,and to top it all off,the album is beautifully produced and arranged. You may be asking the question.."Does it sound like Let Loose"?...well,yes in a way,but with a far more mature edge to it which made the album even more appealing to me. 'Lost' is Richie's first solo release,and I cant wait for the next instalment.
