Born in Wisconsin, bred in Virginia, and now eking out a living as a guitar teacher in the Sierra Nevada foothills, Tom could play Twinkle Twinkle Little Star on the violin before he could read, thanks to his parents' foresight and determination. But he always wanted to be a writer. After numerous--and humiliating--stabs at the Great American Novel, Tom decided he wanted to be a rock star like his heroes Ian Anderson (of Jethro Tull) and Neil Young. He started writing songs because he had trouble remembering the lyrics to songs by other people. His new heroes are mostly bluegrass pickers, and bands he’s played in include The Celtic Amigos; Purdon's Crossing; and the Method-ists.
