Album Notes

Wes Lee has chosen to record a true Blues CD in a traditional style and named it The Shack Sessions. He recorded other musicians’ songs the way that they had done it years before, just a man and a guitar with the soul speaking through fingers and voice. Unlike the current big music production companies of today who wait to insert the next voice in to their star making machine, Wes is just looking to connect the listener with the old spirit of the music. He wakes up something in them long forgotten and brings remembrance of a time of slower days with fewer distractions. To get this feel, he took his guitar to an old shack in the Delta on a cold February weekend. With the wind blowing through the walls and windows, he listened to what the old Delta Blues masters had to say. He sat, alone, waking the spirit of the Delta with his music and recording the results so that it could be heard by modern ears. He chose some songs of Robert Johnson, Big Bill Broonzy, Elmore James and Muddy Waters and he played them in the true spirit of homage and respect, not a duplication. Rounding it out with a Wes Lee original that is played within the same style as the forefathers, but unique to WesLeeMusic because he has his own style. Another great journey down the Blues Highway with Wes Lee.
