Going Snakey for Rockabilly
author: Richard Amery Kenora Daily Miner and News
Chicago rockabilly guitar god, Dan Peters, the voice behind the Sidewinders , has a brand new band which he uses to tap into his inner Elvis on his new CD Snaken Not Stirred, while giving the music a modern twist.
The new band, bassist Derek Brand and drummer Greg Marsh, cook like the old band, more than capably backing Peters’ guitar and voice. He shines on two Elvis cuts— That’s Alright and Little Sister, but he really comes into his own on the hilarious original Keep It In The Family.
For your inner greaser, check out the scorcher Slick Back Cadillac Daddy and Your Love is Evil. He ends another really wild rockabilly ride with the instrumental Scary Harry. His playing is top notch throughout and his voice is as solid as ever. Just imagine what he could do if he held the same rhythm section for more than one album.
