Album Notes

Kevin is butter! He really understands how to phrase a lyric and swing a melody!
- George Duke, legendary jazz & funk pioneer

Kevin is gifted from God with a voice that is meant to be shared with the world. I am honored to have worked with him and blessed to have him as my friend.
- Barbara Weathers, solo artist, former lead vocalist with Atlantic Starr

This is a unique voice; this is a unique perspective, a fresh approach to something we all need in our lives -- pure expression. The many colors that Kevin serves up on this, his maiden voyage, are still only a hint at what is deep inside waiting to be revealed. I celebrate this first full-fledged solo offering (first of many?!) along with many hundreds -- make that thousands of fans out there who have experienced Kevin's gift in my live show only as a compliment to mine. Those who have witnessed his "spontaneous composition" live in concert will no doubt join me in celebrating this long-awaited offering from a true artist. Kevin Whalum is an ORIGINAL! Enjoy!
- Kirk Whalum, Grammy-nominated jazz saxophonist

If any reader has seen this young man live with his brother, Kirk, you already know what he can do. No one has ever left the concert disappointed. Get ready. His lyrical content provides thought-provoking storylines which go deeper in substance than one would first assume. His compositional style is reminiscent of Steely Dan, Bill Withers, Michael Franks, Al Green, James Taylor, Sly Stone, and Sting all rolled up into one. As for his vocal ability...well, it's absolutely GYMNASTIC! He can scat with the best doing it today. Kevin Whalum is poised to make a good, loud noise in the music industry. Plus, he's not a kid. He's a road-tested, "dues paid" musician who has been around the circuit a while. Ask around. You won't regret your purchase.

This is an ablsolutely good album, definately got a unique style which I like. No wonder it's so hard to find and hence the price... but definately worth it. We need more of this coming out.

Like Frank McComb, Kevin Whalum is another naturally gifted vocalist.

To my fellow Morehouse Brother, I thoroughly enjoyed Timetable. With all the junk that's being played on radio, its always refreshing to run across an artist with real talent. I was at the live recording of Kirk's Gospel According to Jazz at West Angeles in Los Angeles. You blessed us with your solo on that project and this one is no different. Keep singing Brother!!!
