Album Notes

WheelHouse came together in early 2006 consisting of Ryan Powell (lead vocals and rhythm guitar), Jimmy Costa (lead guitar), Matt McClain (percussion), Chris Welch (bass) and Mike Russell (drums). Blending musical influences too numerous to mention, Wheelhouse created a sound that is all their own. Their unique sound combined with an energetic live show has made Wheelhouse an Indiana favorite.

When asked to describe their music, Ryan states "we really try to focus on the song and make decisions that are best for the song". He continues, "it may seem like an obvious thing, but it's easy to fall in love with certain parts that you've written that don't seem to work in the context of the song. You have to know when not to force it." It is this attention to detail that creates songs that range from danceable rock songs to slide guitar romps that could as easily be heard in the hills of Mississippi. However, they all have one thing in common: that infectious groove that makes it impossible to stay in your seat. Or as Matt puts it, "if it doesn't make your head bob, we probably won't play it."

When asked about their ambitions for the current record, Jimmy states "I just hope it embodies the soul and passion we all have for music. When people listen to it, I hope that's what they hear." Mike agrees, "we would like it to have the same type of energy that we have on stage if that's possible."

In their short time together, Wheelhouse has developed a loyal following in their hometown of Indianapolis, IN. Built on strong musicianship and a focus on songwriting, their potential is limitless. Asking Chris what's next for Wheelhouse, he replies, "I think anyone who is serious about music just wants the opportunity to be able to dedicate themselves to it full-time, we're just looking for that opportunity." So if you are looking for a great new band this might be right in your wheelhouse!

Explosion of talent!

Been loving these guys since seeing them open for Cowboy Mouth. My entire circle of friends are digging on them here in suburban Detroit. Hope the Wheelhouse makes a short bus ride north this year so we can check them out in their prime element-Live! Meanwhile-the CD is getting the shine worn off of it due to many repeated playings.
