What would you get if you took pop punk and hardcore and threw them together in a blender? You would get When Girls Kiss Girls. Don’t let the name fool you either, these guys are brutal and will melt your face off. This is evident from the very start of their new ep titled “A Few Words of Advice” which drops out in November. The song begins with a face-melting riff and then goes into straight up pop punk. The catchy lyrics and voice of singer Jim Wilbourne will have you singing along in no time. Hardcore screams and gang vocals are also heard on the record, most well executed in the song “Oh, Brutus!”. Also well crafted are the many breakdowns throughout the record. They are sure to have your head banging and transition you back into the pop aspect of what makes this cd so strong. It is easy to see When Girls Kiss Girls has grown as a band and have only solidified everything they stand for. These new songs are tighter and more mature and well definitely keep your attention from start to finish. I strongly suggest you check out these hardworking individuals and pre-order “A Few Words of Advice”. This band and album is not something to be overlooked for they have stepped out of the shadows and are on their way to being poster boys of the Brutalpop scene.
