The garage. It's the birthplace to many bands, many songs, and many memories. It's the field upon which broken strings and busted drum sticks lie as one; depicting scenes of long and grueling practices in damp and confined spaces. If these walls could sing they would echo the trials and testimonies of kids molding into musicians. Pure joy screeching through a used fender amp. Life being pounded into an already dead drum kit. Melodies that have been tired before are being rejuvenated again through virgin mouths of the newborn. They say "home is where the heart is," and for some, hearts were born in the garage. Where's Leo? is no different.
Where's Leo? We're not too sure, but don't let the name of this band deceive you. Lead singer Jimmy Phan, accompanied by drummer Yaniv and bassist Eyal, know exactly where they're at. Coming out of the infamous Orange County, California, they've been working diligently to promote their first masterpiece, "6 Feet on the Ground." Last summer the band toured in eleven states and Canada, showing off their unique sound. Ranging from Weezer to Fugazi, The Descendants to Nirvana, their blend of styles is orgasmic to anyone. But you can decide for yourself. With powerful and explosive sounds and songs, coupled with an energetic and undeniable stage show, Where's Leo? is sure to catch your ear's attention.....and then slowly nibble it off, sort of like Mike Tyson but without the lawsuit.
So what is it about this band that's been tearing it up at the Whiskey, the Galaxy, the Hub, and Chain Reaction? First off, there is Eyal, who is not only Yaniv's younger brother, but he's the newest member of the band. While stepping onto stage like a true performer, he's sure to knock the crowd off their feet. Secondly, there's the mastermind behind the scenes-Jimmy, lead singer and songwriter. He has also been known for adding to the entertainment by jumping on tables and even answering people's cell phones during performances. Last but definitely not least, there's Yaniv. Don't let his smug smile fool you ladies. He's an animal on the drums, playing every song like a natural. He has the kind of spunk and personality that make every member of the audience, especially the groupies, glad that they came to the show.
So, where is Leo? Who cares? It's about who's here now. It's about seeing three guys play each show on stage as if it was their last. It's about listening to their music and feeling moved, wanting to sing along and to maybe even jump out of your chair. It's about connecting with a band that is passionate and truly loves what they do. It's all about Where's Leo?

several fantastic cuts
author: South of Mainstream
Certain songs on this 2002 release really shine...individual cuts earn a "5" rating. But other songs on the disc don't seem to stand out as much, rather one blending into another, doing nothing to make me listen harder. Standout tracks include "Sacrifice", which has a killer riff and great rhythm, with outstanding lead and backing vocals. Each component, vocals, rhythm, lyrics just "work" making for a catchy, memorable listen.
