Album Notes

"Leavin' Man" is a song about the struggle between life on the road and the unbalance it places on a relationship. Be it a traveling businessman, deployed soldier, rodeo cowboy or just a bright eyed troubador, not being around when needed the most is as certain as the setting sun. "Leavin' Man" paints the picture of a blossoming romance facing the truth of what it means to love a man/woman who's passions are divided between their lover and their dreams. Inevitably, loving a man who's gone all those lonely nights when she needs him home takes its toll. In the end, the one thing she'll learn from their love is how to do the same thing....leave.

Whiskey Dawn is a California based Country Band with their own unique sound. WIth instrumentation from the best musicians in the region and self-penned tunes, this is a really unique twist on modern country music. Troy Ferris, the lead singer and main writer, finds a way to relay the emotion of any song through heartfelt lyrics and dramatic imagery, or through witty, tongue-and-cheek story lines in their upbeat tunes. The fans love both equally. Virginia native Johnny Myers on lead guitar finds a way to crack into the spirit of every song finding the perfect tones and stylings to accompany and emphasize the message of the song. Kevin Maxwell on drums is as solid as they come, using his Jazz and Rock influence to individualize the overall feel and sound. Mike Cook on bass and harmony is perfect, and Jeremy Hughes on harmonies was born the perfect compliment to Troy's vocals making for incredible three part magic! Whiskey Dawn music is real, which is what makes it true country, though you wont hear much about tractors or backwoods living. These are California boys who write about love, life, loss, drinking, playing music, and loving all the beautiful parts in between. Honesty and quality...that's what you'll get.
