Whistle Jacket’s biography reads like the Book of Chronicles, One Hundred Years of Solitude (actually it’s been four years), and the lineup saga of The Byrds (without all the egos). Since the band’s 2002 start, there have been about eight different Whistle Jackets. All have been carefully and lovingly designed for your comfort and pleasure.
So Let Me Know, Whistle Jacket’s 2006 effort, features the spirit of Jackets past, present, and future. (It will soon be available on CD Baby.) Original members Chris Hart, Doug Sisko, and Michael Leyden contribute on, respectively, drums, bass, and rhythm guitar. On lead guitar is Rod Moody, formerly of Subpop’s Swallow. Rod adds a little leather to the Jacket. Dan Mickus plays both bass and drums, though not at the same time. He also now teams with Michael on much of the songwriting and arranging. After mixing most of the record, Matt Jugenheimer got his Whistle Jacket on by responding to our ad for a drummer. He actually didn’t know he was responding to us. The latest person to join the Whistle Jacket family is actually in Michael’s family. She’s his cousin. Melissa John plays keyboard, piano, and percussion.
Other releases of Whistle Jacket include Rainy Day Sunshine and Whistle Jacket Wishes You a Happy Holiday. The Jacket has also contributed a song to both These are Centre St. Tracks and Holiday Heart.

A good time was had by band and listeners

Very lively, clever, spirited, impressive. Like multiple Neil Youngs getting together to have a party recording a Britpop CD.

a great slice of summer time folk pop with cool instrumentation

With their upbeat tempo and glorious vocal back-ups and harmonies, Whistle Jacket demonstrate why we need to hear more music coming out of basements.
Sweet and wry vocals, with twee and quirky guitar leads, the band moves you through multiple tracks on a wave of "rainy day sunshine" indeed. Buy this record in time to enjoy it as it should be enjoyed: played loudly with your car windows down, on the way to the beach with your friends. Massachusetts coastline, yeah!
