Rick Whitehead was the Guitarist for the USAF Band's "Airmen of Note" for 22 years.
After retiring from the Air Force in 1991, he stayed in Washington D.C. area and started working with John Previti and Barry Hart; Two musicians who previously worked with the Late Danny Gatton.

"Whitehead's Style encompasses the entire History of Jazz Guitar-the Chordal Solos of Joe Pass, the bop lines of Barney Kessel, the Octaves of Wes Montgomery, the fluid melodicism of Tal Farlow, the rhythmic push of Django Reinhardt, even the controlled noise of more modern players-Clearly Comfortable working in any song form and style"

Live In Captivity is fabulous! Aptly named, as I have been captivated by it for several years now. Rick is inventive, his precision is superb, the interaction of the trio is unparalled, and music selection is varied and exiting. I am always amazed when I play this CD. There is something new to discover each time. If you don't own this recording, you are depriving yourself of the incredible musicianship of an individual that has spent his life perfecting his passion. You ought to see him live! WOW!
