Album Notes

Vancouver’s Whitfield have just completed their sophomore album entitled “Well Behaved & Working For You” due out June 9th, 2006. The album was recorded over 2 intense weeks with 2 very talented producers at Oregon City’s Supernatural Sound, one of the most reputable studios in the North West. A handful of advance copies have generated extraordinary reviews and interest in the group.

In the last few months, Whitfield has received ‘Best of The Fest’ award at NewMusicWest 2006, the Peoples Choice award at Toronto Indie Week, and ‘Best Alternative Group’ at the Toronto Independent Music Awards. The band also recently supported British multi-platinum group Athlete at the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver.

Originally from the UK, singer Jobie Mallett united with drummer Sam Bastedo and Bassist Josh McCulloch in Kamloops, BC. Since moving to Vancouver two years ago, Whitfield has exploded from modest beginnings into a national calibre act.

The debut album from Vancouver's Whitfield is nothing short of impressive. From the sweeping wash of musicianship to the ethereal vocals this album takes you on a journey from song to song. Highlights include the refreshing ballad "Wait" and the brilliantly arranged "Sorry". The production of this album coutesy of Oregon's Glitter Twins is absolutely top notch. Lead vocalist Jobie Mallett has a voice that blends perfectly and smoothly with the dreamy scape produced by his own rhythmic guitar playing, the impeccable drumming of Sam Bastedo and the insistent pulse provided by bassist Josh McCulloch. This band is destined to be one of the big ones and their rise has only been sharpened by the addition of lead guitarist Jordan Irwin. Irwin unfortunately does not perform on the album as his addition to the band was post recording but the live performance is not to be missed. Could not ask for a better album from an unsigned band. They have nestled their way nicely into the comman ground of Keane, Snow Patrol, and Coldplay.
