Album Notes

Wi (Paulo Wilson) was born in Nampula, a province located in the north of Mozambique. It was there that his curiosity about music was first awakened, as he observed his uncles making guitars, drums and all types of traditional instruments for local bands.
The son of one of the country’s most popular musicians, Joâo Paulo, he was raised by his mother Hermelinda Santos and his stepfather Arlindo Ferrâo, in Maputo, the capital of Mozambique.
After finishing his studies, Wi dedicated himself completely to music. Since then, he has collaborated with some of the most distinguished musical groups in Mozambique, as a singer, guitarist and composer.
During a long stay in South Africa, he also had the privilege of sharing the stage with JUST JINGER, SUGAR DRIVE and AMERSHAME, three of the most prestigious rock bands on the African music scene.
In 2000, Wi was nominated for the Best New Talent of the Year award, organized by Radio Mozambique, the most important radio station in the country. In 2001 he decided to immigrate to Madrid, the capital of Spain.
Today, five years later, singer and songwriter Wi is faced with the opportunity that he hoped for: presenting his first recording titled Cold Hearted. The album was recorded in Los Angeles and Seville, Spain, in collaboration with Luis Villa as producer. Songs are sung in English and Portuguese. The recording includes influences acquired by Wi throughout his career, from rock and pop, to Western country, seasoned with his African roots, and some songs that evoke Brazilian music. Wi has had the honor of sharing this project with musicians VINNIE COLAIUTA (drums), CARLITOS DEL PUERTO (bass), BERND VOSS (guitar) and YAYO MORALES (piano, keyboard).
