An all-star cast of jazz & pop musicians assembled for this innovative tribute to the songs of Beach Boys legend Brian Wilson. This album, which was originally recorded and released in 1997, is a sparkling collection of 17 songs which brings a fresh jazz perspective to this classic material. Notably, Steve Khan was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Instrumental Arrangement on “Don’t Worry Baby.”
Produced by Tim Weston, this project brought together an array of outstanding instrumentalists and vocalists. There are many highlights on this album, such as Jeffrey Osborne singing “Wouldn’t It Be Nice,” the Yellowjackets performing “God Only Knows,” and Marilyn Scott singing “In My Room.” Other top musicians featured on the album are Larry Carlton (performing “I Just Wasn’t Made For These Times”), Don Grusin (“Surfer Girl”), the Clark Burroughs Group (“Can’t Wait Too Long, “ I Went To Sleep,” “Cabinessence,” “Til I Die” and “Surf’s Up”), and Tim Weston & vocalist Shelby Flint (“The Warmth Of The Sun”).
