Although both Barb Richardson and M.C. Selfridge have been creating music their entire lives, it was when they combined their talents as the dynamic singer-songwriting duo known as THE WICKS that everything started to take off.

Having come on the Chicagoland music scene with a bang just three years ago, Selfridge and Richardson worked it from the ground up, playing smoky bars and coffee houses until finally arriving at the renown Schubas in Chicago where they will bebut their first full-length CD, "Girl Talk", on August 25.

Although their sound seems so familiar, trying to describe or compare them to another similar female sound heard in the present or even the past will elude you. The best one can do is say that it's as unique and different as it is familiar to one's ears.

Their music and voices are smooth and friendly, but they also roar with a sexy independence and passion that can rock with the best of them.

If you're looking for a new sound and you get bored easily, their new CD, "Girl Talk", is an eclectic blend that will be sure to keep you jumping.

You can count on plenty of variety here, with influences of rock, pop-rock, country rock,jazz, and even what could be called soft gospel, proving their first effort to be a gutsy one that holds true to their belief in creating music without style limitations.Infectious melodies along with strong harmonies which remain their trademark, are present throughout.

"Girl Talk" is appropriately named, as it covers romantic aspects of love...finding it and losing it, looking for it, wishing for it, finding it and not wanting it...you name it.

Love, love, love! It's girl talk, yes. But, the boys will like it, too, so don't count these girls out as folksy females who sit around and eat granola!
