Eddie Willis, Nate Navarro, and Scott Leger started together in Seattle developing and growing together musically, focusing mainly on the beauty of a good a song.
As songwriter and lead singer, Leger offers insightful and sincere perspectives that deal uniquely with human issues and internal struggles. His passionate vocals lead the way as WIDEAWAKE creates a blend of modern rock and edgy acoustic pop that some call "emotional pop-rock".
Their second independent album, Bigger Than Ourselves, was released January 2002 and saw several tracks make their way to shows like Dawson's Creek and an NBC special movie. The closing track from Bigger than Ourselves was used in the DreamWorks motion picture, THE RING. That same year the band moved from Seattle to Austin, Texas creating a loyal hometown fan base and an underground buzz by winning the Austin Music Foundation's Incubator award for best Rock Band. Within a year, the band garnered the support of Austin's premier HOT AC, TOP 40, and ROCK radio stations, and opened shows for major label artists Third Eye Blind, Vertical Horizon, Sister Hazel and Gavin DeGraw.
Most recently Sheryl Crow joined Wideawake on stage in their own hometown to perform one of her award winning songs, "If it Makes You Happy."

Best rock around Austin!
author: Michael Botello
Bigger than ourselves is probaly their best CD so far. Every song is really powerful on this record with the lyrics and the musical stylings. Scott won the best male vocals in the "Austin Chronicles" and he really portrays it here.

wideawake does not disappoint their listeners
author: Casey
If you first heard wideawake on their newer CD, Not So Far Away, and you're wanting to hear more of them, I would recommend this CD. It's not as developed as Not So Far Away, but has the wideawake sound and you will definitely not be disappointed. One of my favorites is She Likes Purple, has a great beat. If you're wanting to just find out what wideawake is all about, I would recommend buying Not So Far Away first and then returning to this album, you might appreciate it more. I give it 5 stars because it's one of the few CDs that I can listen to over and over and not get tired of it and keep finding new things that I love about it! Buy a CD for yourself and one for all your friends.
