Wilbur has performed with numerous jazz greats including, Dizzy Gillespie, Arnett Cobb, Gatemouth Brown, Bernard "Pretty" Purdie, Eric "doc" Smith, Phillip Aaberg, Don Pullen and David Murray. He studied saxophone with Eugene Rousseau.
The Wilbur Rehmann Quintet consists of:
Wilbur Rehmann - alto, tenor, soprano and baritone saxophones
Blackie Nelson - guitar
Ken Nelson - piano and keyboards
Rennan Rieke - acoustic bass
Jeremy Slead - drums
Wilbur has performed in the Northwest USA and also in Northern California and San Francisco, Washington DC, Phoenix Az, Denver and Vail CO and Jackson Hole WY. He is currently a lecturer for Montana Humanites on jazz in American culture.
Wilbur Rehmann has also performed overseas in Siena, Cinque Terre, Milano and Luca in Italy and in Costa Brava Spain. In Italy he performed with Italian jazz saxophonist Andrea Imparato, trumpeter Andrea Paganetto. He is currently planning another European tour.
The album, "New Friends and Old" is the third album by this group. They also produced the albums, "Back Home Jazz" 1996 and " The Mann Gulch Suite" 1997. Both are available at www.montanajazz.com. For contemporary jazz check out this dynamic group.
