Album Notes

A long time Bay Area musician, guitarist/ composer Will Bernard first came to prominence through his membership in Peter Apfelbaum's Hieroglyphics Ensemble, with a host of boundary strectching groups, ranging from jazz, hip hop and world music to experimental, with many stops in between.

He has performed and recorded with Jai Uttal and the Pagan Love Orchestra, Peter Apfelbaum's various band incarnations, Beth Custer, The Coup and Midnight Voices to name a few.

The most successful of these was the group T.J. Kirk (with Charlie Hunter) whose second record for Warner Bros.

"If Four Was One" was nominated for a Grammy in 1997.

Will released his debut CD as a leader, "Medicine Hat", in 1998 on Verve/ Antilles.

Hey i gotta disagree with that last prag. Will Mother Bug Bernard is a GIANT Jazz player and guitar legend! The MotherB*%#+r who reviewed before me may have smoked too much crack? WillB playing live with Stanton Moore Trio(on tour May/June 2007) or supporting his newest release on Palmetto-Records "Party Hats" will likely change his mind!

Pretty fun effort by Will & his merry bunch of players. Yep...he has been way better on T.J. Kirk with Chuck Hunter for sure. This is his first solo and it is collegiately perky without emptying the purse strings. You get it now? Motherbug does not have great solos nor does the sound quality sizzle. Freshies, like this Mother Bug project...usually are in a rush to get to the bounty...
