Some time in the making; "Toys That Left Us" was conceived of a delight in a young man's creative piano compositions, by a Musical veteran's ear for quality and emotion in music. After returning from a successful career as a musician and sound engineer in the U.S.A. with countless album releases in the Ambient music genre, Dean (Disturbed Earth) invited Will Guest to collaborate on this interesting and soulful work.
There is a sense of remembering days past in this reflective work, of dreaming away from the present to things half forgotten.
At times tinged with a melancholy, and times of joy, a musical journey from here to wherever your mind goes.
Delicate treatments of the piano with haunting reflections and soundscapes combine to give a cohesive, intelligent and beautiful ambience.
A track is included by Will's father Steve Guest; a purely electronic composition with familiar sounds and style aimed specifically at relaxing ones mind and body. With a sensitive treatment of the sonics and style of the track by Disturbed Earth, you get a tangible sense of peace.
The album was engineered by Disturbed Earth, and recorded at Eltham and the Ashburton Studio in Melbourne in 2011.
