Album Notes

Acquiescence is Jimmy Williams\' third solo guitar release. After playing and touring with the metal band Steel Prophet and recently progressive rock icons Rocket Scientists, Jimmy has taken a break from the rock genre and explored the more traditional sounds of acoustic guitar. His two previous guitar releases “Sonic Divergence” and “Guitar Concepts” contained instrumental acoustic guitar works, but this latest release is very unique in that each song is only one track of acoustic guitar, with no overdubs. There are a variety of styles displayed, ranging from traditional acoustic on the opening track “Slipping Away”, to the flamenco inspired “Serenade”, to the ambient sounds of “Rain”, to the country styling of “Tip of the Hat”. Acquiescence is a 12 song acoustic journey that contains a little bit of something for all fans of acoustic guitar.

author: Michael Popke
Former Steel Prophet guitarist Jimmy Williams proves himself to be among the most flexible players in the biz. After recording a balls-out debut of shredding wankery (Guitar Concepts), he released the stylistically diverse Sonic Divergence (produced by keyboards maestro Erik Norlander, no less). Now, here comes Acquiescence, a solo acoustic guitar album featuring a dozen pieces that give nods toward fans of all types of acoustic music: traditional, flamenco, country and even ambient. Typically, Williams' contemplative playing is nearly flawless, and the liner notes explain why he was forced to re-record the entire album in one three-hour session before undergoing hand surgery. This is "acquiescence" in title only; Williams is a guitar player who clearly bows to no one. Yet his music boasts broad appeal.
