Old School Soul
author: Katrina Brown-Los Angeles
I only had to listen to the first song and I was on the edge of my seat. I had to share it with my co-woker. I think you are one of my high school classmates "Willie" Wheaton, who sung in the Chamber Singers choir at Dorsey High school under the direction of Mrs. Joseph. We also had the opportunity to sing in the All City Choir in San Francisco. If this is you, I just want you to know that I am so PROUD of you!!! Keep up the good work. Hope to hear from you. kat@cpuc.ca.gov!

I find myself scratching my head wondering why it is that Will Wheaton is just now on our radar. His voice is a deliciously rich instrument that is strong and powerful… truly a voice to be heard. The baritone bass vocalist’s songs are fluid and soulful making OLD SCHOOL SOUL a new classic. The title track nods to his inspirations including Luther, Marvin, Stevie, Teddy, The Temptations, Isley Brothers, Isaac Hayes... Will takes a smooth ride down Memory Lane with a diamond in the back, diggin’ the scene with an old school lean on ten new originals blending pop, R&B and nu soul into the mix. Will’s known in the industry for his supporting talents and has worked with a Who’s Who of superstars including Michael Bolton, Celine Dion, Quincy Jones, Michael Jackson and he’s also written songs that have been recorded by the likes of Earth, Wind & Fire and Will Downing. OLD SCHOOL SOUL places Will where he clearly belongs, front and center in the spotlight. Lots of honey-dipped, stunning ballads here including the elegant “Never Meant To Hurt You,” the stirring, “When Nobody Gave A Damn” and the velvety, “Any Other Way.” But the collection also serves up some slamming dance jams including the infectious “Come On Everybody,” and you’ll definitely move to the seductive grooves on “Heaven Tonight,” “Do My Thang” and “Satisfy.” This is just the beginning for Will Wheaton… we see big things coming. He’s on par with all of his inspirations and is an inspiration as well.

WOW! THIS IS VINTAGE SOUL MUSIC AT IT'S FINEST!
RARELY ARE WE PRIVLEDGED AS MUSIC LOVERS TODAY TO FIND AN ARTIST'S CD THAT WE CAN PRESS PLAY & LISTEN FROM THE BEGINNING TO THE END. AND MORE IMPORTANTLY WALK AWAY FROM IT FEELIN' LIKE OUR SOULS HAVE BEEN THOROUGHLY NOURISHED.
WILL WHEATON IS A BREATH OF FRESH AIR!
THREE OF MY FAVE'S ARE:"OLD SCHOOL SOUL". A THROW-BACK TRIBUTE TO THE GOOD OLE DAYS WHEN NO TWO ARTISTS WERE THE SAME. NO COOKIE CUTTER PRODUCT HERE. WILL'S VOCALS ARE SOOTHING & SMOOTH ON THIS SONG. "COME ON EVERYBODY"-IS A PARTY ANTHEM. THIS TRACK WILL DEFINETLY GET U UP ON YOUR FEET & THA' DANCE FLOOR. LET'S PUT IT LIKE THIS, IF YOU'RE STILL SITTIN' IN YOUR SEAT ON THIS ONE...I SUGGEST U HAVE SOMEONE CHECK YOUR PULSE...CONSIDER YOURSELF LEGALLY DEAD!!
THE BALLAD: "WHEN NOBODY GAVE A DAMN" WHEW, THIS IS UTTERLY BREATH-TAKING. THIS IS A WELL ROUNDED PROJECT. THERE IS SOMETHING ON HERE FOR EVERYONE, WITHOUT PUSHING ANYONE AWAY.
THAT IS QUITE A FEAT TO ACCOMPLISH.
I AM SURE THAT THERE WILL BE TONS OF COMPARISONS MADE ABOUT WHO WILL SOUNDS LIKE VOCALLY, BUT TWO PARTICULAR ARTISTS THAT COME TO MIND...FROM WHERE I'M STANDING, THAT AIN'T BAD COMPANY AT ALL TO BE NEXT TO.
OVER-ALL, THIS ALBUM/CD IS SIMPLY OUTSTANDING!!
GOOD SHOW WILL!!
