The Michael Wilson Group plays the blues. But I guarantee you've never heard them played like this before.
These blues rock and they swing. They're smooth and soulful; they're gritty and funky. You've never heard this much authenticity and this much diversity from one group.
Michael Wilson is a seasoned midwestern bluesman who has recently embarked on a recording career. His vast years of experience in sessions and on stage have honed a fine performer indeed. He's now fronting an ensemble group of musicians with recording and performing experience from coast to coast. Each one is a 'musician's musician'. This enables The Michael Wilson Group to perform shades and varieties of blues you never imagined coming from one group. Audiences love them. Something for everybody. But it's all...the blues. But, judge for yourself. The proof's in the music. Guaranteed there's something for you in there. Something warm and familiar. Something new and refreshing. Joyous, honest, earthy and airborne, The Michael Wilson Group plays the blues.

I think Michael Wilson is a fresh and exciting artist in the blues genre. I found his guitar work to be impressive and really enjoyed his arrangements. The band is tight and the variety in the tunes I listened to was great. I think this CD is a must have in any blues lovers' collection!

Phil Wight of Blues & Rhythm says of the CD: He has an engaging and effective 'mush-mouthed' growl and is no slouch on his chosen axe. The bulk of the songs are original Wilson compositions, he did the arrangements and also co-produced with drummer Tom Allison. So, preamble over, what of this CD. Well, it is a mixture of blues and southern soul, and on the first spin it was the slow soul ballad 'Forever And A Day' with its Stax inspired horns that really caught my attention. But Wilson can also play a mean blues, standouts are the live cut 'Strip T's'; 'Live At The Five' (with the merest hint of Albert King); and 'No Need To Worry' with its finely constructed guitar solo complemented by the horns of Greg Haugesaug and Merlin Brunkow (don't these Yanks have great names!). This is an impressive debut (I'm assuming it is Michael Wilson's debutalbum, if it's not my apologies), good songs, always on-the-money but never OTT backing, a bunch of tight arrangements and gritty gittar playing. The verdict of the jury is 'should go far'. Hot Springs Records says: 'Hard hitting electric blues...Reflections of Albert Collins, B.B. King & Jimi..." Rob Hoffman, club owner, Jala Peno's says: "They're fantastic...an outstanding blues band!" Blue Zone (http://bluezone.org) The Michael Wilson Group and their CD 'The Blues in Black & White' has all the character needed to capture the spirit, soul, andemphasis of standard blues music. Michael Wilson's got a voice that just sounds like he was born to sing the blues and a guitar style that is the perfect sound, inventive & screamin'. ...high performance blues act. The CD includes tracks that say to the world Michael Wilson's got those blues and you can tell he's feelin' it!! A Must Have for all Blues Lovers. Tom Conley--The Buzz Blues Show Mr. Wilson kicks some major blues butt.I played the cd on my show and the response was great

I love this CD--if you get the chance to catch them live, they'll blow you away. Most of the groups around here that call themselves 'blues' are definitely not--but the MWG is Red Hot Blues! Give them a try today! Highly recommended!
