CHICAGO STYLE BLUES!

Revved up Rock, Blues, Dance & Swing! This compilation displays the band’s signature style of revved up music performed "live" with uncompromising raw energy. The intimate live night club recording showcases the bands full on rhythm section complemented by edgy guitars, soulful vocals and a classic Hammond organ fused with authentic Leslie speaker tone! The studio bonus tracks display the band's original style of dynamic jump blues mixed with hot rod style rock n’ roll. Collectively, the Windy City Rev Ups create a sound that is spontaneous, energetic and full of life!

CD REVIEW:

The Windy City Rev Ups serve up 10 tracks of live cuts recorded at a couple of Chicago area establishments.

The CD begins with eight covers. They perform SRV's "Cold Shot", Elmore James "The Sky Is Crying", a funked up Memphis Slim's "Everyday I Have The Blues" and Ronnie Earl's "Follow Your Heart", my favorite of the covers. The last two cuts are WCRU's original tunes and serve as a precursor to what's ahead for the band. This CD whets the listeners appetite for their original music and sets the table for more new releases. I like the two original cuts a lot, "Swing Out Chicago" and "I Should have Known". The former is a swinging little number while the later is more in line with their blues roots.

The band performs R&B, rock and blues "full on". No matter what you label their style, they are a great live band!

This incredible live CD combines the soul of Albert King and Jimi Hendrix with the fresh new sound of the Windy City Rev Ups!
