" ... it’s playful and original, unlike anything out there. The band jams hard too. The musicianship is first-rate." - intelligentpop.com
" ... their sound is diverse, with lush jazzy choral vocals, loads of big band horns, and a feel that mixes trad jazz, rock, and early 1960's pop in a melange that is completely unique." - progscape.com
"In a musical sense, the album rocks. Every tune is tight, well played ... " - Lorelei Clarke (Jazzreview.com)
"It sounds like horn-drenched soul music one minute and an arty musical the next, keeping you on the edge of your seat." - Dan MacIntosh (Indie-Music.com)
The Wings of Fire Orchestra, America’s largest rock-orchestra, has completed work on their debut studio recording entitled, 'Bullfighter Ballet'. The album features over 50 minutes of music composed by Jeff Pflaumbaum and divided into three acts: I & II The Bullfighter Ballet and III Factoryland. The Bullfighter Ballet is comprised of 10 pieces of music accompanied by artful dialogue. Factoryland is WoFO’s 22-minute rock-operetta … or rock-ballet, if you prefer. The music was inspired by Thomas Wolfe's classic novel, 'Look Homeward Angel'.
'Bullfighter Ballet' features over 20 alumni and students from the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. The album also features a special guest appearance by current Berklee president Roger Brown.
The Wings of Fire Orchestra is a 6-horn, 5-piece rhythm section, mixed-vocal modern orchestra ushering in a new age of horn-rock and conceptual music.
